Club Members Excel at High School Nationals
Carla Forbes won her 5th national title, winning the long jump with a personal record leap of 19’5½” at the New Balance National High School Championships in New York this past weekend. Click here to see a video of her receiving her award.
Carla also teamed up with her fellow Newton North teammates and WTC members Kayla Wong, Steph Brown and Amy Ren to finish 8th in the 4 x 55 shuttle hurdles, running 34.2, the fastest time ever in New England by a high school team, 34.2.
Annika Gompers, a freshman at the Gann Academy, was 4th in the freshman mile in 5:08.88. (She had run 11:20 in the emerging elite 2 mile the day before.) Meghan Brophy, a senior at Waltham High School, finished 4th in the emerging elite 2 mile in 11:14.24.
