WTC’s head coach (and founder) is Joe “JT” Tranchita. JT is a USATF Level 2 Certified Coach with more than 30 years of experience coaching athletes of all ages and abilities, from beginner to national caliber, and during his tenure with the club, has produced many New England, northeast regional and national titles at both the youth and open womens levels.
In addition to being WTC’s coach, JT has been a high school coach since 1975, first at Waltham High School for fifteen years and now at Newton North. As a high school coach he has won more than a two dozen state and conference titles, produced more than a dozen individual state champions, and had six number one nationally ranked teams.
In 2011 JT was elected to the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
WTC’s spring youth track and field program attracts more than 300 kids each year, and thus requires a large volunteer coaching staff. Typically, this staff is comprised primarily of parents, but high school and college athletes and community members are also invited to participate. We can never have enough coaches! Coaches attend coaching classes conducted by the club in early spring to fully prepare them for their coaching assignments. Please contact us if interested.
